3.6 kg of methamphetamine hidden in dog food seized by customs officers at Danube-Bridge
On 23. 02. 2023 around 09:00 in the area of BCP Danube Bridge 2 Vidin-Calafat customs inspectors selected for thorough customs inspection a truck with Polish registration. The driver of the vehicle declared that he was transporting boxes of textiles and a pallet of bagged dog food.
During a physical inspection, customs officers found six packages wrapped in transparent foil containing a crystalline white substance in some of the bags of dog food.
In a field drug test, inspectors found that the substance reacted positively to methamphetamine. The total amount of methamphetamine seized was 3 608 grams.
Under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office of Vidin, an investigation is being conducted for a crime under Art. 242, para. at 2, cf. art. 18, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code for smuggling drugs through the country.
By a decision of the investigating authority, the Polish citizen S. R., who was driving the vehicle, was charged with attempting to transport a high-risk narcotic substance across the border of the country without a proper permit.
