50 foreign citizens, detected in an attempt to cross the Romanian border illegally

At the Romanian Nădlac Border Crossing Point , two Turkish citizens, driving road vehicles registered in Turkey, showed up for border formalities on the way out of the country. According to the documents accompanying the goods, the drivers were transporting alcoholic beverages and food products for commercial companies in Germany and Poland.

Following the thorough control of the means of transport, a total of 43 foreign citizens were discovered, hidden in semi-trailers, among the transported goods.

The persons were picked up and transported to the headquarters of the sector for investigations where, following checks, the border police established that they are citizens of Bangladesh, Syria, Iraq, Iran and Yemen, some of them having entered legally, and others being asylum seekers in Romania.

Also, at the Nădlac II Border Crossing Point , the border police performed a thorough check on a truck driven by a Turkish citizen. Following the control carried out on the means of transport, the border police discovered, in the compartment intended for the transport of goods, 7 foreign citizens. During preliminary checks, our colleagues established that they are citizens of Syria and Iraq, aged between 21 and 53.
