Counterfeit GoodsCustoms and TradeNews

Approximately three tons of goods likely to be counterfeit arrived from China, confiscated at Henri Coandă-Otopeni Airport

The action was started at the beginning of May, when on May 9, in the Cargo area of the Henri Coandă International Airport, a joint team made up of border police officers from the Service for the Prevention and Combating of Illegal Migration and Cross-Border Crime, workers of the Cargo Department and customs inspectors from the Otopeni Călători Border Customs Office carried out, based on the risk analysis, a control over a transport of various goods, shipped on the route Hong Kong – Istanbul – Bucharest, with the final destination Ukraine.

Since the control team had suspicions about the transported goods, specific activities were carried out, following which it was determined that the shipment consisted of 160 parcels, in total amount of 2,862 kilograms, but contained various goods inscribed with the insignia of established brands, being susceptible to being counterfeited and affecting the brand owner.

The entire quantity of goods, estimated at a value of approximately 10 million lei if it had been marketed as a branded product, was seized for expert examination and continued research.
