Border guards, using special equipment, forcibly landed a remote-controlled plane near the state border with Belarus
On Wednesday night, the officers of the Švenčionys border of the SBGS Vilnius border team patrolled the village of Sakališkės in the Švenčionys district. This is about one and a half kilometers from the state border with Belarus. The border guards heard suspicious sounds in the dark. These are usually emitted by drones.
The patrols soon spotted the object itself – it was fixed with night vision equipment.
SBGS officers used a portable unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) interception system, successfully took control of the aircraft and forcibly landed it. It turned out to be a remotely operated homemade airplane.
The border guards, with the help of a dog handler with a service dog, checked the surrounding areas, but found nothing more suspicious.
