Dismantled the most active criminal organization in Europe dedicated to the theft of ATMs using explosive devices

Directed by the Civil Guard and coordinated by EUROPOL and EUROJUST, in collaboration with Police from Belgium, France and Romania

7 people have been arrested in different actions carried out in Spain, Romania and Belgium, among which is one of the leaders of this criminal group, who had great experience and knowledge in handling explosive substances, also in charge of training part of the rest of the members

The actions of this group have caused great social alarm in several European countries, being able to attribute at least 22 attacks to ATMs of banking entities in Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and France.

The method used in the attacks on ATMs was known as the “Pizzero Shovel”, causing serious damage to the structures of the buildings that housed the attacked branches.
