Over 200 people investigated for illegal migration in the west of the country, last weekend

The border police in the west of the Romania are investigating a number of 209 foreign citizens who, between April 21 and 23, 2023, were detected while they were intending to cross or illegally crossed the border from Serbia and Hungary. They wanted to reach different states in western Europe.

Thus, as a result of an action to prevent and combat illegal migration, only within the range of the Diosig Border Police Sector , 82 foreign citizens were detected , in various means of transport, who did not justify their presence in the immediate vicinity of the border line. border .

In all cases, the border police officers carry out investigations in the aspect of committing the crimes of migrant trafficking for motor vehicle drivers and attempted fraudulent crossing of the state border for citizens detected in hiding, respectively on foot, with the result that, upon completion, legal measures will be ordered that they impose themselves.

We specify the fact that actions to prevent and combat illegal migration are carried out in an integrated system with the participation of all the structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Border police officers from the Diosig Border Police Sector carried out, on April 21, 2023, actions in the line of preventing and combating illegal migration in the area of ​​competence, during which they were identified, within the radius of the Diosig locality, respectively on a communications from county, in three vans, 82 foreign citizens who did not justify their presence in the area.

During the checks, it was established that they are citizens of India, Bangladesh and Pakistan, aged between 20 and 40, who entered our country legally on the basis of personal documents.

Also, border police officers from the Borș Border Police Sector detected, approximately 500 meters from the border line, 5 citizens from Pakistan who did not justify their presence in the area.

The border police are investigating the crime of attempted fraudulent crossing of the state border for the persons found to be hiding, upon completion the necessary measures will be ordered.

Also this weekend, at the Turnu Border Crossing Point , Arad county, a Ukrainian citizen, driving a van registered in Poland, presented himself for border formalities on the way out of the country.

According to the documents accompanying the goods, the driver was transporting 8 pallets on the Romania-Austria route.

Based on the risk analysis, the border police carried out a thorough control of the means of transport. Thus, 12 foreign citizens were discovered hidden in the cargo compartment .

The persons were picked up and transported to the headquarters of the sector for investigations where, following checks, our colleagues determined that they are 8 citizens from Nepal and 4 citizens from Egypt . The detected persons intended to arrive fraudulently in various states in Western Europe.

And the border police officers from the Borș Border Police Sector observed, as part of specific border surveillance actions, approximately 100 meters from the border line, 21 people moving on foot. They were moved to the place where they were, and since they did not justify their presence in the area, they were taken to the sector’s headquarters for checks. Following the research, it was established that they are citizens of Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan , aged between 19 and 53, who entered our country legally.

Also, at the Nădlac II Border Crossing , our colleagues checked a Peugeot car, registered in Romania, driven by a 54-year-old Romanian citizen. Following the thorough control of the means of transport, 2 people were discovered, hidden in a specially designed compartment, located in the back of the car, with the back seat being cut . During the preliminary checks, the border police established that they are citizens of Pakistan , who entered Romania legally on the basis of personal documents.
