Polish Border Guard Unit detained 209 foreigners who were trying to illegally enter the country. Two assistants were also arrested.
The largest number of attempts to cross the border illegally was recorded on Sunday – 110, on Saturday – 42, and on Friday – 57. In the area of official responsibility of the Border Guard Post in Krynki, 34 foreigners (19 Syrian citizens, 7 Ghanaian citizens, 6 Afghan citizens, 2 Congolese citizens) got through to our country on pontoons through the border river Svislach. Groups of foreigners who approached the dam were also noticed, but at the sight of Polish patrols they retreated deep into Belarus.
The foreigners revealed over the past three days came from, among others, Syria, Turkey, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Egypt, Sudan, Ghana and Congo.
Two couriers were also arrested. Officers from the Border Guard Post in Michałów detained a Belarusian citizen who was transporting 3 Syrian citizens. Foreigners illegally crossed the Polish-Belarusian border. In turn, after the chase, officers of the Police in Sokółka, cooperating with the Border Guard, detained a citizen of Turkmenistan. A foreigner came to pick up illegal migrants.
Since the beginning of 2023, officers from the Podlaskie Border Guard Unit have already detained 86 helpers and organizers in illegally crossing the border.
