Seven foreign citizens without the right to travel to the Schengen Area detected by border police
Romanian border police officers from the Vărșand Border Police Sector carried out random and unsystematic checks on DN79 in Zerind, Arad County. On this occasion, a car registered in the Republic of Moldova, driven by a citizen of the same country, was stopped for inspection.
Following the inspection of the vehicle, seven men, all foreign citizens, were observed traveling with the driver.
The individuals were taken and transported to the sector headquarters for checks, where border police determined that the seven were citizens of Afghanistan and Iraq.
Considering the issues found, the border police have launched investigations into the commission of migrant smuggling crimes for the driver of the car and attempted fraudulent crossing of the state border for foreign citizens, with the necessary legal measures to be taken upon their completion.
