Smuggled goods worth almost 1,400,000 lei, stopped at the eastern border

Border police officers from the Territorial Service of the Vaslui Border Police discovered this weekend, in a one-off action, smuggled goods totaling 1,359,100 lei that were to reach the black market in Paris.

On May 29 this year, in order to complete the evidence in a criminal case under investigation, in which smuggling facts are being investigated, border police officers from the Territorial Service of the Vaslui Border Police organized and carried out a specific action to prevent and combat smuggling in the area of ​​responsibility.

During the action carried out, the border officers identified in traffic, on the way to enter the country from the Albiţa Border Crossing Point, a van registered in the Republic of Moldova. The car in the spotlight was monitored, on which occasion it was found that it stopped in a parking lot within the border locality of Râşeşti. In this parking lot, several packages were unloaded from the van and loaded in the trailer of a bus registered in Romania, parked in the same parking lot.

The bus in question, driven by MT, with Romanian citizenship and the Republic of Moldova, was stopped at the entrance to Huşi municipality and driven to the headquarters of the Territorial Service of the Vaslui Border Police for a thorough control.

Following the thorough control carried out on the means of transport, our colleagues discovered, in the transported, hidden and undeclared packages, 25,999 packs of cigarettes of different brands, 1,230 Kg of aromatic essences for hookah and 74 liters of alcoholic beverages, of different brands, with excise stamp R.Moldova.

In order to clarify some aspects of operative interest, on May 30 this year, border police colleagues, accompanied by MT, went to the same parking lot in Râşeşti, where another parked bus was identified. Following the search, 26,470 packs of cigarettes of different brands, with excise stamp R.Moldova, were also discovered in the transported packages .

Regarding the findings, MT stated that the smuggled goods belonged to him and that they were to be traded on the black market in Paris.

According to the legal provisions, the measure of detaining all the discovered goods was taken, in a total amount of 1,359,100 lei, as well as the unavailability at the headquarters of the Territorial Service of the Vaslui Border Police, to recover the damage caused, the two coaches and trailers, in total value. of 488,640 lei.

The border policemen are investigating MT and four other men of Romanian citizenship and the Republic of Moldova, under the aspect of committing the crime of smuggling.
