Customs and TradeNewsOne to watchSmuggling

Thousands of smuggled cigarettes were seized, some of which were hidden on wooden countertops

On Tuesday evening, officers of the Vilnius Border Guard’s Criminal Intelligence Department stopped a Mercedes-Benz car inspected on the outskirts of Vilnius by a 51-year-old from Vilnius.

On the same day, border guards conducted several searches in Vilnius. Among them were production facilities where, according to the prior knowledge of the border guards, smuggling could take place. The allegations have been confirmed – thousands of packs of illegal cigarettes have been found there. The exact number is still to be determined. Some of the smokers were intricately hidden on wooden countertops. A 44-year-old man who did not declare his permanent residence was also detained there.
