Three people linked to jihadist terrorism arrested in the province of Barcelona
Spanish National Police and Mossos d’Esquadra officers have arrested three people for their alleged involvement in the crimes of glorifying terrorism and making threats. The arrests took place during the early hours of last Monday in the Barcelona municipalities of Castelldefels and Montcada i Reixac.
The investigation was carried out jointly by the Barcelona Provincial Intelligence Brigade in collaboration with the General Intelligence Commissariat of the National Police and the Central Counterterrorism Area (CGINF) – Foreign Intelligence Operational Unit of the Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalan police). The investigation was led by Central Investigative Court Number Five and the Attorney General’s Office of the National Court.
According to investigators, the detainees fully adhered to the jihadist principles advocated by several terrorist organizations, including DAESH. One of the searches revealed manuscripts and materials referring to “lone wolf” attacks and references to martyrdom.
During the investigation, it was discovered that the detainees used various social media profiles to share jihadist propaganda content. They also posted content praising and justifying the actions and attacks of various terrorist organizations. The level of radicalization of one of the detainees allegedly led him to make specific threats against several people on these platforms.
