Twelve migrants from India and Pakistan, supported by a Romanian citizen, found on the border with Serbia

Border police from the Cruceni Border Police Sector, Timiş County, noticed a car parked on the side of the road.

After checking the vehicle, the border police found that it was driven by a Romanian citizen, and inside there were five people, foreign nationals. Extending the checks, seven other foreign nationals were found in a ditch near the road.

Having suspicions regarding the reason for their presence in the area, the persons in question were taken to the Cruceni Border Police Sector headquarters, for further investigations.

Preliminary checks have established that all men, aged between 19 and 44, are citizens of India and Pakistan, who stated that they illegally crossed the border from Serbia to Romania on foot, at the green border. At the same time, the driver of the car, a 23-year-old Romanian citizen, stated that he was going to transport them to Timișoara.

The border police officers are conducting investigations under the aspect of committing the crime of fraudulent crossing of the state border, for foreign citizens , respectively of migrant trafficking for the driver of the vehicle. Further investigations are carried out under the coordination of a prosecutor from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Timiș Tribunal, at the end of which the necessary measures will be ordered.
