26 migrants discovered by Romanian border police

Romanian border police officers from the Giurgiu Border Police Territorial Inspectorate, in collaboration with Bulgarian border police, conducted a routine inspection at the parking lot near the Calafat-Vidin toll station. They flagged a vehicle registered in Turkey, driven by a Turkish national, which was en route from Turkey to Germany.

The vehicle’s accompanying documents indicated it was transporting grills and electric hobs. However, upon a thorough inspection, officers discovered a group of individuals of Afro-Asian descent concealed within the semi-trailer.

Further investigation revealed that the group consisted of 26 individuals attempting to illegally enter Romania: 18 Syrian nationals, 3 Iranians, 1 Iraqi, 3 Moroccans, and 1 Egyptian.

The Turkish driver, along with the group of migrants and the vehicle used for their concealment, was handed over to the appropriate Bulgarian authorities for further investigation.
