3DX-Ray Expands Security Detection Capability Through Acquisition of ClanTect
Human presence detection technology strengthens portfolio and creates opportunities across border security, prisons and critical infrastructure protection
3DX-Ray has announced the acquisition of ClanTect, a specialist developer of human presence detection technology, marking a significant expansion of the company’s security technology portfolio and creating new opportunities across global security and critical infrastructure markets.
The acquisition adds a highly complementary detection capability to 3DX-Ray’s established range of X-ray screening and security inspection technologies. Together, the technologies provide security operators with additional tools to detect and identify threats across a wide range of operational environments.
ClanTect has developed proprietary technology capable of detecting concealed individuals hidden within vehicles, containers and other confined spaces. Using highly sensitive vibration sensors and advanced signal processing techniques, the system identifies minute human-induced movement while filtering out environmental disturbances such as wind, traffic vibration and background noise.
The technology has already been deployed in border security and custodial applications and is regarded as an innovative solution for combating illegal migration, people smuggling and unauthorised access to sensitive sites.
For 3DX-Ray, the acquisition extends its capability beyond traditional X-ray inspection and screening systems into adjacent detection technologies, broadening its offering to government agencies, security operators and infrastructure owners worldwide.
The company plans to leverage its established international distribution network, which spans more than 85 countries through over 60 partners, to accelerate adoption of ClanTect’s products in both established and emerging markets.
Vincent Deery, Chief Executive Officer of 3DX-Ray, said:
“The acquisition of ClanTect represents an important strategic milestone and significantly broadens our security technology portfolio with a highly complementary capability. The technology adds an entirely new detection dimension to our existing screening solutions and allows us to address a wider range of customer requirements.”
“Governments and security agencies are increasingly looking for layered and integrated approaches to threat detection. By combining our expertise in X-ray inspection with ClanTect’s advanced human presence detection technology, we can offer customers enhanced operational capabilities across border security, critical infrastructure protection, prison security and other high-priority security environments.”
“We believe our international sales channels, engineering expertise and customer relationships provide an excellent platform to accelerate the commercial growth of the technology and expand its reach into both existing and new markets.”
Professor Stephen Daley, Founder of ClanTect, added:
“ClanTect has developed a unique and proven technology platform over many years, and we are excited to see it become part of a company with an established global presence in the security sector. The combination provides a strong foundation for further innovation and international growth.”
