81 kilograms of opium found hidden above the cab of a truck, at PTF Calafat

Border guards at the Calafat Border Crossing Point – Dolj County discovered several packages containing about 81 kilograms of brown solid, possibly opium, above the cab of a truck driven by a Turkish citizen. The investigations in question are being continued by the prosecutors of DIICOT – Craiova Territorial Service together with BCCO Craiova, in the end the necessary legal measures will be taken.

At the Calafat Border Crossing Point – Dolj County, a 48-year-old Turkish citizen showed up to enter the country, behind the wheel of a truck. The driver was transporting plastics and traveling on the Turkey-Germany route.

Acting on the basis of a risk analysis, the border guards carried out a physical check on the means of transport. Thus, several packages packed in plastic bags were discovered above the cab of the truck, behind the wind protection panel. Upon close inspection, it was established that the packages contained a solid, brown substance with a total weight of 81 kg (possibly opium).

The entire quantity of the substance was taken by the workers from BCCO Craiova to be sent for expertise to the specialized laboratory.

In this case, the investigations are continued by the prosecutors of DIICOT – Craiova Territorial Service, together with BCCO Craiova, under the aspect of committing the crimes of high-risk drug trafficking and international high-risk drug trafficking , at the end of which the necessary legal measures will be taken. . At the same time, the truck was made unavailable at the PTF Calafat headquarters, and the Turkish citizen was detained for 24 hours, and he will be presented to the court with a proposal for pre-trial detention.

If they were traded on the black market, the drugs would be worth about 1,500,000 euros.
