A Belarusian and a Ukrainian were carrying eight illegal migrants towards Germany, they were caught by officers of the Polish Border Guards

On November 15, officers from the Border Guard post in Zielona Góra-Babimost checked two cars with Polish license plates heading towards the border with Germany in the border town of Gubin. The drivers were citizens of Belarus and Ukraine, who were transporting eight illegal migrants (four Afghans and four Syrians).

The passengers did not have any documents entitling them to legal residence in Poland. They were detained for attempting to cross the Polish-German border in violation of the regulations and proceedings were initiated to oblige them to return. Until the end of these proceedings, the men were placed under the supervision of the Border Guard.

Meanwhile, a Belarusian and a Ukrainian were detained for providing assistance in an attempt to cross the border in violation of the regulations. The men were charged and given suspended sentences of 10 months’ imprisonment. Decisions were issued against them requiring them to return immediately and five-year bans on re-entry to Schengen countries were ruled
