A Polish and Turkish man detained for human trafficking

Both men are suspected of committing numerous crimes related to human trafficking and various types of fraud against foreigners, primarily from Asian countries, including Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. They were detained by officers from the Carpathian Border Guard Unit.

The organizers of this criminal operation used social media to recruit foreigners—residents both in Poland and abroad—offering substantial fees for assistance in obtaining residence permits and then legal employment. In reality, the criminals abused the foreigners’ dependency and exploited their critical situation, confiscating their passports, exploiting the threat posed by their illegal stay and the possibility of deportation. They restricted their freedom of movement in order to exploit them for illegal work. They also threatened the foreigners with criminal penalties. The foreigners were issued more than a dozen certificates indicating their status as victims of human trafficking.  

Searches of residential and utility rooms were conducted. A car, communications equipment, various documentation related to the operation, and cash were discovered and seized.
