Another courier attempting to smuggle illegal migrants to Germany detained by Border Guards

The 45-year-old Ukrainian citizen was transporting four Afghans in a passenger car with Lithuanian registration plates.

Border guards determined that the foreigners had entered Poland via the Belarusian route. A Ukrainian man picked them up from the Siemianówka region in Podlasie, intending to smuggle them into Germany. The man was charged with organizing four Afghan citizens to illegally cross the state border from Belarus into Poland and attempt to do so from Poland into Germany. His passengers were charged with illegally crossing the state border from Belarus into Poland and attempting to do so from Poland into Germany. The Afghans voluntarily accepted the prosecutor’s sentence of six months’ imprisonment, conditionally suspended for two years. The Szczecin-Right-Border and West District Court in Szczecin ordered the foreigners to be placed in a guarded facility for three months. The Ukrainian was placed in preventive custody for three months. The Border Guard is conducting criminal proceedings in his case. He faces up to eight years’ imprisonment.  

Since the temporary border controls with Germany were reintroduced, Border Guard officers in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship have detained 20 couriers who were transporting 62 foreigners from Poland to Germany. In total, during this period, border guards detained 77 illegal migrants attempting to enter Germany.
