BOC NAIA, PDEA, PAIRCARGO opens Coordination Center

In compliance to the directive of Bureau of Customs Commissioners Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero to further strengthen vigilance on the entry of illegal drugs, BOC Port of NAIA, in partnership with People’s Air Cargo and Warehousing Inc. (Paircargo) management, has created a coordination center between BOC NAIA and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Paircargo warehouse.

The facility was provided for by the management of Paircargo to support the initiatives of BOC NAIA and the government in protecting the country of any attempts on entry of illegal drugs, said Paircargo President Joseph Madrigal.

BOC-NAIA District Collector Carmelita M. Talusan said that this coordination center is imperative to strengthen border security on any importation of illegal drugs. The center, which was made possible by the Paircargo management, was also strategically placed for importations from Paircargo accounts to the majority of importations coming through NAIA and accessible to the concerns of other six (6) warehouses under Port of NAIA.

“This coordination center exemplifies the strengthened coordination of the Bureau of Customs and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency with the support of stakeholders in its fight against illegal drugs in the port specifically in NAIA. This office will be very useful as our operatives can make timely response on anti-illegal drug related activities which include K9 inspection, package profiling, backtracking investigation and apprehension of smuggled illegal drugs”, said PDEA Assistant Regional Director Irvin John Coderis.

For year 2021, BOC NAIA, PDEA, and NAIA-IADITG had already 28 drug busts due to continuous coordination.

The inauguration was also attended by NAIA Inter Agency Drugs Interdiction Task Group (IADITG) Deputy Commander IA3 Gerald Javier, Paircargo President Joseph Madrigal, and Paircargo Vice President Michael Narvaez, Paircargo Special Deputy Collectors Raymond Mama-o, Dan Oquias of PAL PSI, NAIA District Commander Capt. Pedro Gutierrez and Team Leader of CAIDTF-NAIA Richie Beldia.

In full support of BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero’s reform initiatives, BOC-NAIA will continue to strengthen its efforts in securing the borders along with facilitation of trade and collection of lawful revenues.
