Bulgarian Customs inspectors from “Anti Drug Trafficking – Rousse” discovered a stash with over 57,000 cigarettes in a passenger van

During a customs inspection of a passenger minibus, officers from the “Anti Drug Trafficking – Rousse” Sector in the TD Customs Rousse found a stash of 2,866 packs of cigarettes with a Bulgarian excise label.

On 28.02.2023, a passenger minibus with a driver and a companion of Bulgarian citizenship, traveling to Western Europe, was stopped for inspection in the area of the Danube Bridge-Rousse border crossing.

During the control, the customs officials found a stash containing 2,866 boxes (57,320 pieces in total) of cigarettes with a Bulgarian excise label without the necessary documents under the Law on Excise and Tax Warehouses. For the case, two acts were drawn up to establish administrative violations of one of the persons – for the illegal cigarettes and for the stash.
