DG Bulgarian Border Police received a donation designed to effectively counter human trafficking
The director of DG Border Police, Chief Commissioner Rositsa Dimitrova, accepted a donation from the international non-governmental organization “Operation Underground Railroad” from the USA, whose activity is entirely dedicated to the fight against human trafficking and child exploitation, and for this purpose it interacts with law enforcement services on worldwide. The donation – two cars, various computer and photo equipment – was presented by Ann Hurst, a representative of the organization.
The fight against human trafficking has been one of the priorities for DG Border Police for many years. Thanks to your support, we will be much more active in countering this criminal activity – said Chief Commissioner Dimitrova. As a sign of the good cooperation, she presented plaques to the General Prosecutor’s Office to Ann Hurst, to Deputy Ambassador Andrea Brulet-Rodriguez and to Jared Gast – attache and representative of the US Customs and Border Protection Service at the US Embassy in Sofia.
Ann Hirst pointed out that human trafficking is an international problem that requires joint efforts to break up criminal structures and help victims.
The donation of the technical equipment is the result of a series of meetings in 2022 between representatives of the non-governmental organization and the State Police, in which the efforts made by the Bulgarian side to counter human trafficking and the need for better interaction in international operations were highlighted.
