Dismantled the clan of Los Maya, one of the most important organizations in Campo de Gibraltar dedicated to drug trafficking
Spanish National Police agents have arrested ten people in Algeciras (Cádiz) as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of drug trafficking, belonging to a criminal organization and robbery theft and use of a vehicle.
The detainees are members of one of the most powerful clans dedicated to the hashish trade in the Campo de Gibraltar. In the records carried out, 1000 kilos of hashish, 8000 euros in cash and seven stolen vehicles have been seized with which they carried out loading functions of the drug bundles, once they were placed on the coast of the bay of Algeciras.
The investigation, which has lasted more than six months, has made it possible to dismantle the aforementioned clan with the arrest of all its members, from the most responsible to the people at the bottom of the organization. The members of the clan were specialized in the introduction of significant quantities of hashish, through semi-rigid boats, along the coast of Algeciras. Once on the coast, they were unloaded by the so-called “packers”, people belonging to the organization who carry out the function of loading the drugs in the vehicles owned by the organization. These vehicles were then transferred to single-story single-family houses owned by the organization where the drugs were stored, to later be distributed mainly by European countries.
On the morning of November 16, a broad operation was deployed in which more than 100 officials from the National Police and the Tax Agency participated to carry out four simultaneous searches at the homes of those investigated. In them, 1000 kilos of hashish, 8000 euros in cash and seven stolen vehicles were seized with which they carried out loading functions of the drug bundles, once they were placed on the coast of the bay of Algeciras.
