Eight foreigners were detained at the Polish-Lithuanian border after illegally crossing the border, along with two couriers who were supposed to transport them to Western Europe

A Border Guard patrol from the Border Guard Station in Rutka-Tartak, along with Territorial Defense Force soldiers, stopped a Fiat Ducato with Polish license plates near the border, driven by a Ukrainian citizen. The man had arrived to pick up four Afghan nationals who were detained near the waiting vehicle. 

Another group of migrants and a courier were detained a few hours later. Near the town of Poszeszupie, a Ukrainian citizen was waiting to pick up three Afghans and one Pakistani.

The detained couriers were charged with aiding and abetting illegal border crossings. Foreigners who illegally crossed the Polish-Lithuanian border were readmitted to Lithuania as part of the readmission process.

Since the introduction of temporary border controls on the Polish-Lithuanian border, 150 people who illegally entered Poland from Lithuania have been readmitted. Thirty people have been charged with aiding and abetting illegal border crossings.
