Evolution of identity: Veridos unveils new sample passport

Veridos, a global provider of integrated identity solutions, is unveiling its new Evolution sample passport. The document demonstrates how passport design, materials, personalization, and security technologies can be developed as one integrated concept.

The name Evolution refers both to the passport’s visual narrative and to the continuing development of secure identity documents. Its design traces a path from the origins of life through human development and modern technologies to the future of identity.

This narrative is embedded in the passport’s materials, security features and inspection logic. Recurring motifs connect the document’s visual design with its security architecture. An ammonite, for example, appears on the data page and in the watermark, while further elements become visible under magnification, UV light or from different viewing angles. These include cave paintings, prehistoric landscapes and other references to stages of evolution. Through this integrated approach, the new sample passport demonstrates how visual identity, document security and personalization can reinforce one another. The result is a passport concept designed to support reliable inspection while representing the identity and heritage of an issuing nation.

The polycarbonate data page offers a plethora of possibilities for personalization. In the Evolution sample, the main portrait is personalized using Veridos’ CLIP ID color image technology, which has already been applied in over 40 million passports and ID cards worldwide. Different versions of the Evolution sample show the options for transparent window features such as Look ID, a transparent stripe containing the UV-reactive Diamond ID feature; Amber ID, a pigmented transparent window that produces a color shift and supports the personalization of elements such as a ghost image; or Spectre ID, a technology based on specialized lamination structures. When the viewing angle changes, design patterns move and selected personal data appears or disappears.

The Evolution passport also demonstrates how advanced security features interact across the document and across pages. Design elements on the end page, title page and data page align despite the use of different production methods. Lamination structures correspond with intaglio elements on facing pages, while security paper from G+D Louisenthal, embedded threads and window threads, as well as pigments and specialist materials complement the overall concept.

“With the launch of Evolution, we present more than a new sample passport. We show what secure identity can look like when technology and design go together – the power of storytelling through design. And it is also a testament to what we can achieve when we combine the SecurityTech expertise, technologies and innovation capabilities of the G+D Group to create an integrated passport solution,” comments Andreas Kuba, Global Vice President Regions and Sales at Veridos.
