Nearly 41 kg of cocaine were discovered by border police and customs officers at the Vidin border crossing

A minibus driven by a 25-year-old Ukrainian citizen arrived at the Vidin border crossing to enter Bulgaria. The car travelled from Spain, loaded with ceramic tiles.

As a result of operational information submitted by GPU – Momchilgrad, border police officers of the “Vidin” border crossing point diverted the motor vehicle for a thorough inspection, carried out together with customs officials. An X-ray scan identified areas of unusual density in the floor of the vehicle, and a physical inspection revealed a built-in cache there. In it, the examiners found 7 toner cartridges and 28 vacuum packets with a powdery substance that gave the characteristic reaction of cocaine in a field drug test. The total amount of drugs seized was 40.9 kg.

The driver and the drug were detained. In this case, a pre-trial proceeding has been initiated according to the inventory of the Border Police Department – Vidin under the direction of the District Prosecutor’s Office.
