Officers from the Border Guard Post in Sejny, Poland detained a courier transporting three illegal migrants.

A Ukrainian citizen transported three Bangladeshi citizens in a Toyota with Polish registration plates. He first dropped them off at the Lithuanian border and then picked them up on the Polish side. The foreigners crossed the border on foot in a prohibited area. They began their illegal journey to Western Europe together in Latvia.

The courier will be charged with organizing illegal border crossings. The Bangladeshi citizens will be handed over to the Lithuanian authorities.

Organizing or aiding in the organization of an illegal border crossing carries a penalty of up to eight years in prison. Foreigners detained for aiding and abetting, and currently residing legally in Poland, will be subject to parallel administrative proceedings to issue a decision requiring their return to their country of origin. They will also be banned from entering the Schengen Area for a period of five to ten years.

Since the beginning of 2025, officers from the Podlaskie Border Guard Unit have detained a total of 53 helpers and organizers of illegal border crossings.
