Operation Anatolia dismantles organization dedicated to trafficking of hashish in Campo de Gibraltar

Together, during the operation, the Maritime Service of the Guardia Civil of Algeciras has managed to intercept two vessels, detaining their crew members and seizing about 3,900 kilos of hashish and 50 flasks with 1,200 liters of gasoline

The Guardia Civil within the framework of the “Operation Anatolia” has dismantled a criminal organization that is dedicated to the international trafficking of hashish. 30 people have been arrested and 14 house searches carried out in the towns of San Roque, Los Barrios, San Martín del Tesorrillo, Algeciras and Manilva. About 6 tons of hashish have been seized, in which about 8,000 euros, documentation of interest, 30 mobile phones, 55 fuel bottles, a simulated handgun and located a marijuana plantation have been seized.

The operation began last February, when the Guardia Civil seized a cache in Cala Arena in Algeciras, where four people were arrested and a boat carrying 690 kilograms of hashish was seized.

Subsequently, and as a result of the investigations carried out by the Guardia Civil, five more caches were seized in which 18 people were detained and 5,500 kilos of hashish were seized.

The disjointed organization was divided into two branches; one that operated with recreational boats in the Getares area and another that introduced hashish in powerful boats in the Guadiaro river area, where they also carried out abundant refueling to other organizations.

At the same time that the operation was being carried out on land, a vessel of the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard of Algeciras intercepted a powerful 4-engine semi-rigid boat and another vessel that was heading to refuel the first one, detaining two people and seizing about 3,900 kg of hashish and 50 carafes of fuel.

Agents from the Algeciras and Malaga Commanderies, OCON-SUR, CCON-SUR and GAR have participated in the operation.
