Romanian Border Guards seize over 54,000 cigarettes found hidden in the doors, floor, seats and walls of a minibus

Border guards from the Nădlac Border Police Sector carried out random and unsystematic checks on the communication routes near the border. On this occasion, a minibus registered in France, driven by a 32-year-old Bulgarian citizen, was stopped for inspection.

Following the physical inspection of the means of transport, the border police discovered several packs of cigarettes in various compartments of the minibus (doors, floor, seats, side walls), for which the driver could not present documents of origin.

The person and the vehicle were taken to the institution’s headquarters for additional checks, where it was determined that the vehicle contained over 54,000 cigarettes, worth over 81,000 lei.
