Romanian Border Police Arrest three people for possession of 5 kg of high-risk drugs
On Saturday, December 6, during an operation carried out in the municipality of Sighetu Marmației, border police officers from the Sighetu Marmației Territorial Inspectorate of the Border Police together with employees of the Service for Combating Organized Crime stopped a car carrying three people (one Ukrainian citizen and two Romanian citizens) for checks. Following the investigation, approximately 5 kilograms of crystalline substance 3 CMC (high-risk drug) were discovered in the vehicle.
The investigation also revealed that the defendants purchased the prohibited substance from Poland, and on the morning of 06.12.2025, around 01.00, they introduced it into Romania, through the former Petea border crossing point, hidden in the body of the car.
Later, on the same day, prosecutors from the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism Crimes – Maramureș Territorial Office ordered the detention of the three defendants, aged 32, 33 and 37, investigated for the crimes of high-risk drug trafficking and introduction of high-risk drugs into the country. One of the defendants was also charged with the crime of possession of high-risk drugs, without a license, for personal consumption.
