Seventeen foreign citizens hidden in a van
At the Nădlac II Border Crossing Point, Arad county, a 34-year-old Romanian citizen presented himself for border formalities on his way out of the country. The man was driving a van registered in Romania and, according to the documents accompanying the goods, he was transporting pallets on the Romania-France route.
Based on the risk profile, a thorough inspection of the vehicle was carried out, as a result of which the border police officers discovered, in the cargo compartment, seventeen foreign nationals .
The persons in question were taken to the headquarters of the border police sector for investigation. During the checks, our colleagues established that they are citizens of various states (Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India, Nepal and Afghanistan), aged between 21 and 47, who entered Romania legally.
Border police officers have started investigations in terms of committing the crimes of migrant trafficking for the driver and attempted fraudulent crossing of the state border for the citizens found hidden in the means of transport, following that, upon their completion, they will be ordered the legal measures that are imposed.
