Eight people were arrested during the police actions.

Five people were detained in a special operation by criminalists from the Third Police District against drug distribution. About 2 kg of fentanyl, marijuana and crystals were discovered and seized. The operation was planned in response to signals received that drug addicts were gathering in the Peter and Paul Park in the Ilinden district and were disturbing people living in the area. After conducting surveillance, law enforcement officers identified the dealers who were distributing the drugs in this part of Sofia. As part of the police actions, a house on Dr. Kalinkov Street was searched. Two men, aged 36 and 32, and a 19-year-old woman were detained at the scene. During the detention, one of the men attempted to escape and throw away some of the narcotics, but his actions were thwarted by uniformed officers. During the subsequent procedural and investigative work, envelopes with a crystalline substance fentanyl and a grassy mass – marijuana, as well as the amount of 25,000 leva were found and seized in the house. The approximate weight of the discovered drugs is about 2 kg. After a report of the materials in the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office, the 36-year-old man was charged under Art. 354A and a detention measure was imposed on him for a period of up to 72 hours.

1025 fentanyl pellets and over 250 grams of fentanyl powder, nearly 20 grams of cocaine and about 14,000 leva were seized by police officers of the capital’s Eighth Police Department in another successful operation against drug trafficking in Sofia. A 58-year-old dealer known to the police was detained. His identity was established after receiving operational information about his criminal activity. On August 5, information was collected that he was preparing to remove and hide the drugs he kept in an apartment in the Druzhba residential area. In order to prevent the drugs from being removed, the police organized surveillance in the area and a little later the man was detained. During the subsequent procedural and investigative actions in the apartment he lived in, 1025 fentanyl pellets, a plastic container with a brown powdery substance, paper folds and a bag with a white powdery substance, an electronic scale and numerous self-adhesive polyethylene bags were found and seized, as well as about 500 grams of a white substance with a granular structure and nearly 14,000 leva.
The man was detained with a police measure for up to 24 hours. After a report of the materials at the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office, he was charged and a measure of “detention in custody” for up to 72 hours was imposed.
