Spanish National Police arrest a suspected jihadist in Pontevedra with a high degree of radicalization

National Police officers arrested a person last Tuesday in the province of Pontevedra for their alleged participation in the crimes of glorification, self-training and active indoctrination of third parties.

Within a large virtual jihadist network, and under strict security measures, the suspect carried out pro-jihadist activities, including contacting and sending various materials from this terrorist organization to a large number of users, expressing his support for the Islamic State.

The now detained man also expressed to third parties his desire to travel to an area controlled by DAESH to join their ranks and be trained in the use and handling of weapons to fight.

The detainee’s prolonged consumption of terrorist material, aimed at training for the commission of attacks, posed a high risk to National Security.

The operation has been carried out by the General Information Commissariat, with the collaboration of the Information Brigades of Valencia, Pontevedra and Vigo, under the direction of the Instruction Section of the Central Court of Instance No. 5 of the National Court.

Following the search of his home and the seizure of various computer devices, the detainee was brought before the court and ordered to be imprisoned.
