Tens of thousands of cigarettes hidden in the floor of a truck
Border policemen at the Giurgiu Border Crossing Point discovered, following a the inspection of a truck, tens of thousands of cigarettes, hidden in different locations, which a Bulgarian citizen tried to smuggle into the country illegally.
On 07.09.2024, around 02.45, at the Giurgiu Border Crossing Point, a 32-year-old Bulgarian citizen, driving a road group consisting of from van and trailer.
Following the control carried out on the means of transport, the border police discovered, hidden in the floor of the van and the trailer, 75,400 cigarettes (3,770 packs), of different brands.
In the case, a criminal case was drawn up for the crime of “possession by any person outside the fiscal warehouse of excise goods subject to marking, without being marked or improperly marked or with false markings over the limit of 10,000 cigarettes”.
The entire quantity of cigarettes, estimated at a value of 113,100 lei, was detained and entered into the crime scene room of the Territorial Service of the Border Police Giurgiu.
