The courier and 9 migrants were caught while travelling to Germany

Officers from the Warsaw-Modlin Border Guard Post detained 9 foreigners who were trying to get to Western Europe, hidden in a car. A Ukrainian citizen was also detained and is responsible for organizing the illegal transfer of foreigners from Latvia. The man was placed in temporary custody.

The incident involving foreigners pretending to be citizens of Eritrea and Ethiopia took place last Wednesday (October 11) on one of the provincial roads near the town of Ostrów Mazowiecka. Officers from the Warsaw-Modlin SG Post arrived at the scene after receiving information from the Police about a collision of a VW Caddy passenger car with Latvian registration numbers, driven by a 42-year-old Ukrainian citizen. It turned out that the man inside the vehicle was carrying 9 foreigners (8 Eritrean citizens and one Ethiopian citizen). None of these people had an identity document.

The foreigners, in the presence of an interpreter, told the officers that they were traveling from Russia, where their documents were confiscated, and then they illegally entered Belarus and Latvia. There, a car with a driver was waiting for them to take them to Germany. The entire expedition was organized by a smuggler, and each foreigner paid from PLN 5,000 for transport to Germany. up to 7 thousand dollars.

The foreigners were charged with illegally crossing the state border, to which they pleaded guilty and were sentenced to 6 months’ imprisonment suspended for 2 years, the verdict was made public and supervised by a probation officer. Administrative proceedings were also initiated against the detainees to oblige them to return. By court decision, the foreigners were placed in guarded centers for foreigners. In turn, a Ukrainian citizen who organized for them to cross the Polish border contrary to the regulations was charged and faces up to 8 years in prison
