The Spanish Civil Guard has arrested three people and seized 4,200 kilograms of hashish seized in Alicante

The Spanish Civil Guard, as part of Operation “Marathon25,” has arrested three people caught attempting to smuggle 4,200 kilograms of hashish into the Iberian Peninsula via the Alicante coast. They also seized 2,000 liters of fuel used to supply the boats, one of the boats, and four vehicles.

The events occurred when the Civil Guard detected three boats, one of them high-speed, heading towards the northern coast of the province of Alicante, at which point a coordinated operation was established.

As a result of this operation, officers located four suspicious vehicles near Cala Granadella that could be linked to the arrival of the drug-running boats. These vehicles were parked on the beach. Officers established a security perimeter, in case this was the landing point for the drug shipment.

Minutes later, the three boats were spotted arriving on land and began unloading the drugs, at which point they were surprised by the agents, who arrested three of those involved.

Once the drugs were seized, they were subjected to a drug test and weighed, resulting in 4,200 kilograms of hashish.

The detainees are charged with drug trafficking, resisting and disobeying law enforcement officers, and belonging to a criminal group.

The operation was carried out by the Organic Unit of the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard in Alicante, with support from the Fiscal and Border Patrol of Denia and the Citizen Security Unit. Local Police officers from Jávea also collaborated, and the operation was directed by the Court of Instruction Number 2 of Denia, which is handling the case.
