The Spanish Civil Guard intervenes more than 10,000 marijuana plants in Hormigos (Toledo)

The Spanish Civil Guard, within the framework of the “Hormigueroverde” operation, carried out in the province of Toledo, has arrested 19 people belonging to a criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking, with the intervention of 10,311 marijuana plants in an advanced state of growth , 2,500 grams of inflorescences (buds), dried and vacuum packed ready to go on sale, and 100 grams of hashish.

Likewise, two long firearms have been seized, one of which was listed as stolen in the Community of Madrid and logistics material dedicated to the cultivation of drugs worth 400,000 euros and 1,000 euros in cash.

The operation began when the Civil Guard was able to verify the existence of a large number of marijuana plantations in the town of Hormigos (Toledo), five of them in homes in the urban area and another four in an urbanization in the same town. Of these nine addresses, eight of them were illegally occupied.

For this reason, the agents proceeded to enter and search the homes. Some of the houses had high security devices, in order to protect the plantations from possible “overturns” (robbery between traffickers) and due to the dangerous nature of the alleged perpetrators of the acts, added to the possession of potentially dangerous dogs and weapons. of fire.

Sophisticated methods of concealment of plantations

Also, in one of the houses the marijuana plantation was hidden in a basement that was accessed through a small hole of about 50x50cm in a wall of a ground floor unit.

In another of the homes, access to the plantation was through an armored door at the back of the house, at ground level, through a hidden trapdoor in the double room. And in a third, the house had an armored door with an opening direction opposite to that of the home itself, which made access to the interior extremely difficult.

As a result of these searches, 19 people were arrested, 13 men between the ages of 24 and 45, and six women between the ages of 26 and 45. Eight crimes of drug cultivation and processing, two of belonging to a criminal group, nine crimes of of electric fluid fraud, nine of water fraud, eight of occupation of property without authorization, one of illegal possession of weapons, one of robbery with force in things and one crime of identity theft.

The operation has been carried out by the Organized Crime and Anti-Drug Group (EDOA) of the Toledo Civil Guard and the Reserve and Security Group No. 1 (GRS) and the Citizen Security Unit of the Toledo Commands have participated. , Guadalajara and Cuenca (USECIC).

The investigation has been directed by the Courts of First Instance and Instruction 1 and 2 of Torrijos (Toledo).
