Three illegal tobacco warehouses closed in Lubuskie, Poland

Officers of the Nadodrzański Border Guard Unit and the Lubuskie National Tax Administration seized nearly 15 tons of illegal tobacco worth PLN 11 million in the vicinity of Zielona Góra and Świebodzin. Two Poles were detained for the case, who could be punished with up to 10 years in prison.

Officers of the Nadodrzański Border Guard Unit and the Lubuskie Office inspected at the same time three properties in the Zielona Góra and Świebodziński poviats. The officers suspected that illegal tobacco trade was taking place in these places. As part of the joint action, the uniforms secured nearly 15 tons of slices worth PLN 11 million and PLN 37,000, which probably came from the illegal tobacco trade. Additionally, they secured two vans and a trailer.

Two men, aged 38 and 61, who admitted that they owned the illegal goods, were also detained.

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Świebodzin requested the court to temporarily arrest the men. They are threatened not only with a heavy fine, but also imprisonment for up to 10 years.
