Two foreign citizens pre-emptively arrested for migrant smuggling, following an action by the Romanian border police in Timișoara
Border police apprehended two individuals after they failed to comply with a legal summons. One of the suspects, an Afghan citizen, exhibited violent behavior and destroyed evidence during the encounter.
Following these actions, the border police transported the individuals to the ITPF Timișoara headquarters for further verification. Investigations revealed that from November 2025 to January 2026, the Afghan and Romanian citizens, along with two Pakistani nationals arrested on January 15, allegedly engaged in recruiting, guiding, and transporting migrants to facilitate fraudulent border crossings.
In response, on January 17, border police officers executed two home search warrants in Timiș County, as part of a broader investigation into migrant smuggling aimed at obtaining material benefits.
