233 kilograms of marijuana were found during a joint operation by officers of the Bulgarian State Customs Service and the Customs Agency

Officers from the Main Directorate “Combating Organized Crime” and the Department “Combating Drug Trafficking” of the Customs Agency conducted a joint operation at the Kulata checkpoint on November 2. On entering the country, a truck with a Bulgarian registration and a Bulgarian driver was pulled aside for inspection. The truck and the semi-trailer attached to it were traveling on a route from Spain through Italy and Greece to Bulgaria. A thorough customs inspection was carried out and a specially constructed cache with a mechanical opening was discovered in the front wall of the trailer, in which 200 vacuumed packets of green grassy mass of marijuana with a total weight of 233 kg were found and seized. The driver, 37 years old, was detained.
