Bulgarian Customs officers at Kapitan Andreevo BCP found more than 6 kg of heroin in a car
Heroin worth over BGN 1,000,000 was discovered by the customs officers at the Kapitan Andreevo BCP during an inspection of a car entering the country from Turkey. The inspection is part of the general anti-smuggling operations with the participation of officers of the National Customs Agency, the DG Border Police, the DG Combating Organized Crime and the National Revenue Agency.
On May 26, 2024, a Volkswagen car with Bulgarian registration arrived. In the car, driven by a 24-year-old woman, a 41-year-old man, Bulgarian citizen, was also traveling. The vehicle was selected for a thorough customs check by a team of the “Combating Drug Trafficking” department. In the course of the control actions, after dismantling the rear tires of the car, in the factory cavities of the door sills, the customs officers found a total of 24 packages containing a beige powdery substance. In the field drug test, the substance reacted to heroin. The total gross weight of the detained drug is 6,120 kg, worth BGN 1,028,160, estimated for the needs of the court proceedings.
