Dismantled an international organization that trafficked in large quantities of marijuana for shipment to the rest of Europe

Agents of the Spanish National Police, in a joint operation with the Belarusian Police and INTERPOL, have dismantled an international organization that trafficked in large quantities of marijuana that it shipped to the rest of Europe. In this operation, five people who had plantations in Malaga and Cádiz have been arrested.

In the records made, the agents intervened a large number of plants in different phases of growth, with a total weight of 250 kilos of marijuana. The money from the sale abroad was reinvested in Spain in new plantations, real estate and high-end vehicles, in order to launder the profits obtained.

In this operation, carried out thanks to international police cooperation, the agents located an organization dedicated to the trafficking of marijuana that was operating in the area of ​​the Costa del Sol. The detainees, of Belarusian and Lithuanian nationalities, had plantations in Malaga and Cádiz for the subsequent international sale of the drug and maintained contacts with other powerful criminal organizations that had been based on the Costa del Sol for years. This organization that had been established for years in Spain trafficked with large quantities of marijuana that it sent to different parts of Europe. The money from the sale abroad was reinvested in Spain in new plantations, real estate and high-end vehicles, in order to launder the profits obtained. 

Five detainees, 25,000 euros in cash and 250 kilos of marijuana

At the end of November the agents dismantled two plantations in Malaga and Cádiz and arrested five members of the organization. In the records carried out, almost 25,000 euros in cash were located, which the members kept available for future drug purchases. In addition, a large number of plants in different growth phases were intervened, reaching a total of 250 kilos of marijuana. Two electric pistols have also been intervened and a beacon for monitoring that the criminals had ready in case of conflict with other criminal groups. 

In recent years, a new profile of international drug trafficking has been dedicated, in which a large part of the foreign traffickers of tougher drugs such as cocaine or heroin would be specializing in marijuana trafficking, especially in the case of organizations criminals of Lithuanian and Belarusian nationality. These groups direct and frame traffickers at the local level within their international drug trafficking operations, since the sale of this substance is much more beneficial in other countries, using their distribution networks throughout Europe.
