Drug shipment worth over PLN 6 million seized in Poland
Officers of the Nadbużański Polish Border Guard Unit from the Terespol Post, carrying out their tasks together with officers of the Wielkopolska Customs and Tax Office in Poznań, secured over 122 kg of a psychoactive substance with a black market value exceeding PLN 6 million.
The officers determined that a delivery van located in Poland, but coming from one of the EU countries, could be carrying significant amounts of drugs. In the course of further activities, the officers selected and stopped for inspection a previously identified vehicle in the Wielkopolska province. The officers’ suspicions proved justified, because in the luggage space of the car, significant amounts of a light substance in the form of granules were found in plastic bags. The officers secured over 122 kg of a psychoactive substance with a black market value exceeding PLN 6 million, which was sent for further laboratory tests.
Two Ukrainian citizens, aged 42 and 38, were detained in the case, who were traveling with drugs hidden in the cargo area of the inspected vehicle.
The prosecutor of the Lublin Division of the Department of Organized Crime and Corruption in Lublin presented the detained courier with the charge of transporting a significant amount of drugs and psychotropic substances, i.e. an act under Article 55, paragraph 3 in connection with Article 55, paragraph 1 of the Act on Counteracting Drug Addiction. A preventive measure in the form of temporary arrest for a period of 3 months was applied to the detainee. He faces 3 to 20 years of imprisonment for the act he committed. One of the previously detained persons was released after questioning.
