During the weekend of August 4-6, 350 foreigners were caught trying to illegally cross from Belarus to Poland
The events were recorded on sections of official responsibility of eight Posts of the Podlasie Border Guard Unit located on the border with Belarus. The largest number of attempts to cross the border illegally – 160 – took place on Saturday, 43 on Friday and 147 on Sunday.
In the section protected by the Border Guard Post in Dubicze Cerkiewne, migrants crossed the border in groups of several dozen. Polish patrols were attacked there with stones and tree branches. Foreigners tried to illegally enter Poland by crossing the Wołkuszanka River near Płaska and the Świsłocz River near Krynki. Among the revealed foreigners were citizens of Afghanistan, Syria, India, Pakistan, Iran, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Algeria, Yemen, Bangladesh and Morocco.
Three couriers trying to transport people who had previously crossed the border illegally into the country were also detained. Two citizens of Ukraine, were transporting 5 citizens of India and 4 Syrians. They were detained on Friday and Saturday in the area of responsibility of the Border Guard Post in Mielnik. On Sunday, two citizens of Uzbekistan who were transporting three Syrians were detained near Białowieża.
From the beginning of this year On the section protected by the Podlaski Border Guard Unit, 446 helpers and organizers have already been detained in illegal border crossing.
