Five Turkish citizens detected at the Romanian border with Serbia
Border officers observed five foreign citizens walking near the border, without being able to justify their presence in the area.
Near the location was the discovery of two cars identified as providing taxi transportation (ride-sharing), with suspicions that the drivers were going to pick up the respective persons to facilitate their travel.
All the individuals were taken to the Sânnicolau Mare Border Police Sector headquarters for further investigations. Following the checks carried out, it was established that the five foreigners are citizens of Turkey, who illegally crossed the state border from Serbia to Romania, on foot, at the green border, with the intention of reaching a state in Western Europe.
In this case, the border police are conducting investigations under the coordination of the prosecutor in charge, for the commission of the crime of “fraudulent crossing of the state border” in the case of Turkish citizens, and the two drivers, Romanian citizens, are being investigated for “migrant smuggling”, with the necessary legal measures to be taken upon completion.
