Illegal tobacco business was broken up in Elbląg, Poland
In one of the screening halls, officers identified three men aged 32, 42 and 48, residents of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, and inspected their vehicles. In a Volkswagen transporter, they revealed over 400 kg of illegal raw tobacco, and in a utility vehicle rented by one of the individuals, they found 2.4 kg of cut tobacco, 13.5 kg of dried tobacco, and a tobacco cutting machine. As a result of the activities, the officers also searched another room, revealing 4 kg of cut tobacco there.
The total value of the secured goods was estimated at PLN 206,564. The border guards also secured a tobacco cutting machine located in the utility hall. The 48-year-old confessed to the ownership of the machine and the seized goods. Further steps in this matter are carried out by officers of the Operational and Investigation Group from the Border Guard Post in Elbląg.
