Minister of Migration & Asylum opens World Border Security Congress
Notis Mitarachi, Greek Minister of Migration and Asylum, opened the 2021 World Border Security Congress in Athens to an international audience of border security, management and protection experts.
With its first meeting in over 2 years due to the pandemic, over 40 countries gathered in Athens to discuss the current threats and challenges facing the border community, at an exciting Congress opening.
Mr Mitarachi highlighted the current threats of illegal migration and trafficking and emphasised the need for countries to work together to improve communications and intelligence sharing to combat organised criminal activities.
Dmitrios Mallios, Head of Aliens and Border Protection Branch, followed with an informative insight to activities and operations of the National Police to support these objectives highlight by Minister Mitarachi.
