35 drug boats seized during the month of August in the area of the Gulf of Cadiz and the Guadalquivir River
The Spanish Civil Guard, within the framework of the IV Special Security Plan for Campo de Gibraltar of the Ministry of the Interior, has deployed a device during the past month of August to fight against organizations dedicated to drug trafficking along the entire Andalusian coast and the Guadalquivir riverbed.
During the operation, 35 vessels were seized, five of them high-speed vessels, and 30 smaller vessels used to supply fuel and food for the other vessels with greater power. In addition, five vehicles, more than 6,000 kilograms of hashish, 173,918 packets of tobacco and 47,146 litres of fuel were also seized.
Among the various actions carried out within the framework of this operation, the most notable was the one carried out on August 8 in the towns of Isla Cristina, Ayamonte and Punta Umbría (Huelva), where 1,530 kg of hashish, 9,500 litres of fuel and 12 recreational boats were seized. Also the one carried out on August 25, in the area of Los Caños de Sancti Petri (Chiclana-Cádiz), where six boats and 15,450 litres of fuel were intercepted.
The operation was coordinated by the Headquarters of the Andalusian Civil Guard Zone and included the participation of the Maritime Service of the Cadiz and Huelva Commands, the Air Service, the Rapid Action Group and various Citizen Security units of the Huelva, Cadiz and Seville Commands.
