
A courier from Azerbaijan was transporting Pakistanis
Officers from the Polish Border Guard Post in Olsztyn detained a courier and illegal migrants in the Grudziądz district. The Azerbaijani was transporting five Pakistanis.
The arrest of illegal migrants is the result of cooperation between the Warmia-Masuria and Podlaskie Border Guard Divisions. Officers from the Border Guard Station in Rutka Tartak, on May 30, reported a suspicious Toyota vehicle traveling on National Road No. 16, possibly containing foreigners.
Officers from the Border Guard station in Olsztyn, Grudziądz County, stopped a car with Polish license plates. Besides the courier, the car was carrying five Pakistanis. The foreigners had crossed the border from Lithuania into Poland. The Pakistani citizens did not possess documents authorizing entry or residence in Poland.
The detained foreigners were readmitted to Lithuania. Border Guard officers brought the courier to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Grudziądz. He was charged with organizing illegal border crossings for foreigners. He faces a prison sentence of six months to eight years.
