Bulgarian Customs officers seized over 200,000 cigarettes

Customs inspectors of the Ruse Customs Territorial Directorate seized more than 200,000 cigarettes during an inspection of a lorry in the Vidin region.

Officials of the Anti-Drug Trafficking Department stopped a cargo composition with Bulgarian registration for inspection. The driver, a Bulgarian national, presented transport documents stating that he was transporting furniture pillows from Bulgaria to Poland.

Upon checking the cargo, it was found that part of the pallet with goods contains boxes that differ from the others.

After their opening, 10 750 boxes (215 000 pieces) of cigarettes of 5 different brands were found, with a Bulgarian excise stamp. The driver said he was transporting tobacco products to friends in the Netherlands.
