Over 650,000 cigarettes hidden in the roof of a semi-trailer, discovered by Romanian border police

Border policemen from the Bechet Border Police Sector and the Dolj Border Police Territorial Service, together with workers from the Dolj Economic Crime Investigation Service, carried out an action on the line combating illicit trade and illegal marketing of cigarettes, tobacco products and other excisable products.

As a result of the action carried out, within the radius of the town of Rast, in Dolj county, a group of vehicles consisting of a tractor and a semi-trailer, both registered in Bulgaria, driven by a Bulgarian citizen, aged 40, was identified.

After carrying out the thorough control, the border police discovered in the roof of the semi-trailer, a specially arranged compartment in which 650,300 cigarettes (32,515 packs) were hidden, which had a Bulgarian tax stamp applied.
